Fans in the Stands!

Opening Ceremonies will be held TONIGHT, Friday, May 18th at 7:30 pm in Strawberry Stadium at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. We want you to be a FAN in the Stands!  Come out and cheer on our athletes! On Saturday and Sunday, the fun continues as we start competition.  Our athletes have trained long and hard for this event and are ready to do their best. All they need is you in the stands to cheer them on!

Join us on June 1, 2018 which is National Donut Day at your local Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant for Cops on Donut Shops. Our Law Enforcement Torch Run partners will be out at Dunkin’ Donuts locations across Louisiana from 5:00 am – 11:00 am collecting donations to benefit Special Olympics Louisiana. Celebrate National Donut Day while giving back to SOLA!

On behalf of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run Movement and Special Olympics Louisiana, we would like to invite you to the 2018 Official Torch Lighting Ceremony.

When: Friday, May 18, 2018 @ 8:30 AM
Where: North Boulevard Town Square in downtown Baton Rouge. 

Across the state, members of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run carry the “Flame of Hope” while running 1,000+ miles to raise awareness and funds that help improve the quality of life for our 15,106 athletes. This event has become the largest fundraising and media awareness event for Special Olympics world wide, and we would love to share our enthusiasm and success with you! The ceremony will kick off the final run of the 2018 Torch Run week and lead to the Opening Ceremonies of the 2018 State Summer Games for Special Olympics Louisiana.

Torch Run

Each summer, law enforcement officials carry the Flame of Hope across the state culminating with the Torch Run Final Leg, and the lighting of the cauldron to officially open the Special Olympics Louisiana Summer Games in Hammond. This torch relay involves more than 2,500 law enforcement officers and personnel representing more than 200 law enforcement agencies across Louisiana. The 2018 Law Enforcement Torch Run will take place on May 14th-May 20th.
