We are searching for professionals with various skill sets to help run the “business” of Special Olympics Louisiana in your area. We are looking to fill these positions immediately: administration, sports & competition, public relations and volunteering. Other positions are available, such as fundraising, family outreach, and training.

Each year Special Olympics Louisiana recognizes outstanding individuals, companies, and organizations that make a significant contribution to the Special Olympics program. This year, 13 individuals or groups will be awarded for their contributions to Special Olympics Louisiana in 2011. Winners will be honored at the “Spirit of Special Olympics Sports Awards Banquet”, July 21, 2012 at the FOP Wedding and Reception Hall in Baton Rouge, LA. This event is being sponsored by Extreme Catering, LLC.

This week begins the 1,000 mile journey of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) . The Torch Run is a year long endeavor in which law enforcement agencies from across Louisiana assist Special Olympics in various fundraising and public awareness events. This week, however they will deliver the “Flame of Hope” to the Opening Ceremonies of the State Summer Games on Friday night.
Today they have started from virtually every corner of the state, running the torch from parish to parish. So, if you see a group of Law Enforcement officers running down the road, don’t be alarmed…it’s just the Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run!
