Check out this great video that we released last year! Are YOU a Special Olympics Athlete?!
The below is a guest post from Athlete Channing Ewing from our Northwest Area about State Summer Games.
I certainly had fun in Hammond this past weekend. I got to meet Jay Ladner (Southeastern Louisiana Men’s Basketball Coach), Pete Panepinto (Mayor of Hammond), David Vitter (US Senator), and David Ducre (LSU Football Player). It was great getting to see Gordy Rush again (he came to watch me play basketball in Baton Rouge and got me a ticket to the Tiger Tour). As usual, I enjoyed the Dance and Olympic Town which I usually can’t do during State Indoor Games. I really enjoyed it.
Special Olympics Louisiana athlete Dan Johnson was featured in his local newspaper. Check out the story below to find out everything about the “Man Made of Medals.”
The lucky winner will receive:
- Round trip airfare to Scottsdale, Arizona.

State Fall Classic is a little over three (3) weeks away! Over 400 athletes will compete in aquatics, horseshoes, and softball. Events will take place at Pelican Park in Carencro and the Robicheaux Center in Lafayette. Also on the agenda is Healthy Athletes, which will provide free health screenings to our athletes, Olympic Town, which will showcase fun Games, and the Victory Dance, which will be a fun time for all of our athletes. All of these events will take place at Carencro High.
As with any of our events, we rely on great volunteers! If you would like to volunteer for State Fall Classic, please click here.
Also, competitions are free and open to the public! We invite you to come cheer on our athletes as they compete for the Gold, beginning with Opening Ceremonies on Friday, October 17th for 7pm at Pelican Park. Come out and be a Fan in the Stands!
We hope to see you there!
