At each of our state events we hold an Opening Ceremony. This is where our athletes and delegations are introduced and the Games are declared open. Another fun part of this event is the lighting of the cauldron. Athletes and Law Enforcement deliver the torch into Opening Ceremonies and light the Flame of Hope.
Have you ever attended one of our Opening Ceremonies? If so, comment and tell us about your experience… What did you like most about the evening?
On March 8th, State Indoor Games- Opening Ceremonies will be held on the LSU Parade Ground for 7pm. We invite all to attend and take part in the inspiring event.
Hope to see you there!

This week begins the 1,000 mile journey of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) . The Torch Run is a year long endeavor in which law enforcement agencies from across Louisiana assist Special Olympics in various fundraising and public awareness events. This week, however they will deliver the “Flame of Hope” to the Opening Ceremonies of the State Summer Games on Friday night.
Today they have started from virtually every corner of the state, running the torch from parish to parish. So, if you see a group of Law Enforcement officers running down the road, don’t be alarmed…it’s just the Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run!
