Special Olympics offers numerous Olympic-type individual and team sports that provide meaningful training and competition opportunities for persons with and without intellectual disabilities. There are several sports that Special Olympics Louisiana offers but does not hold competitions in due to availability or other environmental factors.

Listed below are all the sports Special Olympics Louisiana has to offer:

Gymnast Goes For Gold

Macy is a Special Olympics Athlete from Texas who recently received a unique gift from some helpful students at Rice University.  “Rice University engineering students got a chance to show their stuff on Saturday, from flight apps to biomedical creations, a showcase on campus featured inventions made by the students. But one creative idea will help a Special Olympics gymnast stand on her own,” reported ABC 13 in Houston.

Special Olympics Ambassadors

In case you have been living under a rock, the Summer Olympics begin Friday, July 27, 2012, and ends Sunday, August 12, 2012. As the 2012 London Olympics approaches at the end of this month, we are very excited to cheer on one of our Special Olympics Ambassadors, Michael Phelps.
