This Wednesday, athletes from two different areas will head to the University of New Orleans for a basketball clinic. Coach Mark Slessinger and his team will coach our athletes on the fundamentals of basketball, but will also get the chance to play a game against the UNO athletes!
Athletes that have attended in the past have had a great time and we are expecting another great clinic.
Last week, we told you about a camp some of our athletes attended at the University of New Orleans, which was hosted by the men’s basketball team. Athletes were put through drills, took a tour of the Lakefront Arena, and played a game against the UNO team.
Bryan Salmond from WWL-TV was on hand to capture the action at the camp. He shows how the UNO athletes views of athletes were changed.
Yesterday, some of our athletes participated in a basketball camp hosted by the University of New Orleans. Head Coach Slessinger, led the camp along with his assistant coaches and his players.
Our athletes started the camp with a warm-up followed by three rotations of skill performances. Next, they were treated to a tour of the Lakefront Arena. Then, they toured the locker room and video room, stopping for a quick video session. Finally, the camp concluded with our athletes playing against the UNO players. Special Olympics Louisiana athletes took home the win!
Thanks to all of the coaches, players, and staff at UNO for hosting a great basketball camp. We are already looking forward to the next one!
