From Friday November 15th, through Tuesday November 19th, athletes, partners, and coaches from around the state, converged on Camp Beauregard to train like champions for the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games! Athletes and partners trained in athletics, aquatics, basketball, bocce, bowling, flag football, golf, and tennis all with the hopes of being selected to represent Louisiana!
A huge thank you to the staff at Camp Beauregard. Their help and dedication the past few days have been tremendous and we are grateful for the use of their facilities! Also, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s office, Louisiana State Police, and the Knights of Columbus did an amazing job of cooking for us all weekend and for that we say thank you.
Do you know someone in Law Enforcement? Are they part of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run Movement? If not, we want them!
The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) partners law enforcement agencies to promote awareness & relationship building between officers & persons with intellectual disabilities. It is the largest grassroots fundraising event & has become the most highly successful public awareness campaign in our history. Special Olympics Louisiana has over 150 agencies involved in the Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run Movement and they raised over $270,000 for us last year alone! Learn more
To all of the men and women who have served our great country over the years, we say thank you for your service! Without you, our athletes would not have the opportunity to compete on a daily basis. A lot of you also participate in our Law Enforcement Torch Run… this is another way that you help our athletes strive to be their best.
Many branches of the military do a tremendous job of helping our athletes. From moving and hauling equipment, Volunteering, and even just taking pictures for our athletes, these men and women are big supporters of SOLA!
To all branches of the Military, THANK YOU, we pay tribute to you on this Memorial Day 2012!
