Spread the Word to End the Word Day was March 6th. Lots of people made videos, posted pictures, wrote stories, etc. to share their opinion and draw awareness that the word “retard” is hurtful. With so much support this was the best R-Word day yet! Check out this video from Marana High School in Arizona. It is a must see!

Today is Spread the Word to End the Word day! What word are we talking about? The R-Word! Don’t know what the r-word is? It is the word “retarded”. Things have been CRAZY around here getting ready for our Special Guest (the surprise will be revealed tomorrow), counting scarves for the Scarf Project and getting ready for this weekend’s State Indoor Games, BUT…today is national Spread the Word to End the Word Day and it all starts with you!!!

We treat this word just like any other minority slur. We know that most people say it and don’t intend to be mean, but when you do say it, you are demeaning 3% of the world’s population.
