Check out this awesome video from Over the Edge last year in New Orleans! After you watch it, click here to register for this years event on December 4th.
Over the Edge will take place this Friday in New Orleans at Benson Tower! We have many participants who come back year after year. Read below what Mr. John Charlet had to say about his experience with Over the Edge! You can register here.
WELL, first, it is REALLY fun! Second, it is for a great cause. Third, I get bored easily, so always looking for something to do. Fourth, great views from the building and from the Helicopter ride.
All that said, I’ve always encouraged my five children (2 boys, 3 girls) to set their own limits on what they want to do and can achieve. We all love the outdoors and have all at one time or another done some repelling in the mountains. NOTHING this high, so it seemed a chance to get a new perspective. Did it last year, so was all new. This time, I expect to relax and enjoy the ride in a more leisurely fashion. Unfortunately, the repel guides won’t let me go head first to make this one different.
Last year, and this, my Daughter Aimey (the good or evil twin, depending on which twin you ask) will be along side of me on the repel down. Last year, I did win the race down, but to be fair, she had trouble with the gear. Come out to watch this year’s race (not that we are a competitive family!)
Do come out and support this very worthwhile cause and watch the “Old Guy” glide slowly down the side of the Benson Tower without even a walker to help!
Whatever you do, don’t look down!
On December 5, 2014, participants will get the opportunity to RAPPEL 25 stories down NOLA’s Benson Tower, RIDE in a helicopter & SWAT train with Louisiana’s finest at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Training Facility, while raising much needed funds for Special Olympics Louisiana athletes!
This adventure is a minimum of $1,000 and you can register TODAY and start your fundraising page. To do so, just click here. Too CHICKEN to rappel? Donate to an edger and help them reach their goal for Special Olympics Louisiana.
Check out the promo video below!
Special Olympics Louisiana was honored on the field at the Saints game yesterday as the charity spotlight. We were delighted by the exposure and promotion our mission received. We had volunteers at the gates, athletes and our CEO honored on the field. Ochsner and Verizon Wireless welcomed us to the game as well as promotional displays throughout the duration of the game. Thank you all for bringing much needed awareness to our organization.

We asked New Orleans Saints Fullback, Jed Collins, to answer some fun questions for us. He discusses his favorite Saints memory, what he wants to do after football, and even his favorite movie. Check out Jed’s answers below!
What is your favorite movie?
One of my favorite movies growing up has to be “Major Payne.” My brothers and I can quote that entire movie.
What is your favorite quote?
“Proud of the past, Focused on the future, Enjoying the Now”
Who was your favorite player growing up?
I always like watching Jeremy Shockey because of his personality and his hair definitely inspired me to grow mine out. But, I was more of a basketball fan growing up and my favorite was “The Admiral” David Robinson. I heard he could walk the length of a basketball court on his hands and always thought that was cool.
Favorite Saints memory?
It has to be the play Drew [Brees] broke Dan Marino’s 27 year old Season passing record. I got to be in on the play, and to be a part of history is something I will never forget.
Do you have any hobbies?
Right now, my interest is reading all kinds of things. From Biographies about great coaches like John Wooden, popular trilogy Hunger Games, to sports psychology books. My other interest is finance. I would like to become a Certified Financial Planner when I am done playing to assist players in how to handle their financial futures.
What gives you inspiration?
Right now my inspiration is to focus on the positives in life!
A huge thanks to Jed for taking the time to answer our questions! Good luck to Jed and the rest of the New Orleans Saints as they take on the Denver Broncos this Sunday! WHO DAT?!
Over the Edge is this Friday! There are still a few spots for those daring enough to take part in this once in a lifetime adventure. Then you will be whisked away in a helicopter from the Superdome to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT Training Facility. Here you will participate in several training exercises and receive a SWAT team jacket. Then you will be flown back to the Superdome. Don’t miss this chance, sign up today! We dare you!
As our beloved New Orleans Saints gear up to take on the New England Patriots tonight we are excited to talk about the 1st regular season and home game in which WE are featured on the ticket!
This year the Saints have decided to feature 5 nonprofit groups on the ticket and we were one of the lucky ones chosen. Our partnership with the Saints has continued to grow yearly and this year we will be at the PreSeason games promoting Over the Edge and have an ad in the Saints GameDay Magazine!
We wish the New Orleans Saints the best of luck this season! Who Dat?!
