No costs are imposed on Special Olympics Louisiana athletes or their families. To continue to operate in this manner, Special Olympics Louisiana depends upon the cash and in-kind donations of our many generous sponsors and donors to fund its year-round program, parish, area and statewide. We would like to extend special thanks to our sponsors.

SOLA received a $10,000.00 donation from the Valero Energy Foundation on October 20th, 2016 for the for the 2016 Valero Texas Open Benefit for Children Golf Classic. A total of $570,000 was given to 39 charities.
The Annual Knights of Columbus Benefit Dinner was a success! SOLA athlete, Hunter Reno, was invited to say the Pledge of Allegiance and was even able to show off his Special Olympics medals that he has won. At the end of the program, Hunter was even chosen to pull the winning name of the $500 prize award!
Special thanks to Ms. Donna Reno, Hunter’s mom, for donating wine glasses painted by athletes that were sold at the event. The wine glasses were a big hit!
A very special Thank You to the Knights of Columbus Council 2952 (Hammond) for hosting this event for the past 18 years and all those who came out to the event!
The Unified Relay Across America has made its way through Louisiana! Last week, the Relay made its way through our state with major stops in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lake Charles and a great time was had by all!
Thank you to all of the torch runners who raised money and participated in the Relay! Your support of our athletes was awesome! Big thank you to our host sites: Tulane University, Town Square, and the Lake Charles Civic Center! Finally, a huge thanks to our URAA sponsors in Louisiana: Roadrunner Towing and Winn Dixie!
As the unified Relay heads west, we hope our friends in those states will have a great time, just as we did!

We would like to congratulate Major Ward Webb with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Department for receiving The Merit Award for his dedication and support of Special Olympics Louisiana!
According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office “Major Ward Webb was recognized and given an Award of Merit by Sheriff Wiley.
Major Webb has been involved in Special Olympics and for several years he has dedicated hundreds of hours of his time, both on duty and off duty, to improve the lives of special needs children. Under his guidance the Law Enforcement Torch Run has grown from a handful to scores of participants and the Polar Plunge has grown from grossing just $700 in its first year to bringing in over $54,000 in 2014!
Through Major Ward Webb’s personal efforts the APSO was showcased on an International Level before 1,200 attendees at the International Conference in New Orleans last month and the Award of Merit he received today was earned by his hard work and dedication to a special cause!”
We would like to send a huge hug and many thanks to Major Ward Webb for everything you do for SOLA and the athletes! You deserve it!
