Meet Camrin!

Meet SOLA athlete, Camrin Sandoz.

Unknown

Camrin is a junior at Loreauville High School in Loreauville, Louisiana. He started playing Unified Golf with Special Olympics Louisiana just last year. Camrin trains hard, practices at his home course, Squirrel Run, in New Iberia every day, and decided to try out for his high school golf team. Although he is fairly new to the game, Camrin doesn’t play like it!  He went out for try outs and has earned a spot on the Loreauville High School golf team. Camrin will play matches in LHSAA. Congratulations Cam! We are proud of you!

Icing on the Cake

Special Olympics Louisiana young athletesGreat news! A generous donor has agreed to contribute $100 for each new monthly donation made in September, until we recruit 150 new Sustaining Partners.

Please help us take advantage of this incredible opportunity by becoming a Sustaining Partner today

As a Sustaining Partner, your steady, ongoing monthly gifts will help ensure we’re always able to provide training and competition opportunities to our athletes in Louisiana – and around the world.  And there’s never been a better time to join.

Your monthly gift of $10, $20, or any amount you choose, along with the $100 match, will make a tremendous difference immediately and all year-round.

Just think how much more we can do for the athletes!

Special Olympics Louisiana transforms lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.  Through the power of sport, athletes develop the perseverance, skills, and spirit to realize their dreams on and off the field.

But for every athlete taking part in Special Olympics, there are 120,000 more people in Louisiana with intellectual disabilities we haven’t yet reached.  They are still waiting for their chance to train and compete, to belong and make friends, to gain confidence and make their families proud.

We can and must do more.

Your ongoing support will help us reach even more athletes, continue to offer high quality sports trainings and competitions year-round, train more volunteer coaches, provide transportation to events, and so much more. And thanks to the $100 match, your generosity will stretch even further.

So, please, make a monthly gift right away— we are counting on you.

T.R.A.I.N.

Have you heard of T.R.A.I.N.?  If not, you will now!  T.R.A.I.N. stands for Testing Recreational Activities and Improving Nutrition.

It is a “sports assessment and nutrition education program designed to help athletes stay active, stay healthy, and achieve their personal best…” (specialolympics.org).  The assessment features different stations such as the shuttle run, walk the line, dining detective, and the 3-minute step test, to name a few.

Special Olympics Louisiana will conduct at least three more T.R.A.I.N. events by years end.  One of those will be at State Fall Classic this October!

Learn more about T.R.A.I.N. and the partnership with Finish Line click here.
