Join us for the exhibition of “Brave in the Attempt: Special Olympics in Louisiana” at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame & Northwest Louisiana History Museum in Natchitoches. This exhibition highlights the history of Special Olympics with a focus on the organization’s efforts in Louisiana. The foundation for Special Olympics Louisiana was built at the 1968 Special Olympics Games, held on Soldier’s Field in Chicago. The exhibit opened May 5, 2018 and will be open throughout the year in honor of Special Olympics Louisiana’s 50th Anniversary.

USA Games

Volleyball Team With Play Unified Ball

The Special Olympics 2018 Special Olympics USA Games will take place July 1-6, around the University of Washington and the Seattle, Washington community. There are nearly 3,500 athletes and 1,000 coaches, 10,000 volunteers and delegates from all over the world expected to attend and compete in the 2018 USA Games. About 50,000 family, friends, and spectators are anticipated to attend.

Meet Team Louisiana

Team Louisiana will be a delegation of 129 ( 70 athletes, 27 unified partners, 32 coaches and official delegates) representing Special Olympics Louisiana. Our delegation will compete in the following sports: Athletics (Track & Field), Aquatics (Swimming),  Bocce,  Bowling,  Golf, Powerlifting, Tennis, Unified Basketball, Unified Softball, and Unified Flag Football. Meet the candidates for Team Louisiana’s Delegation.

State Summer Games

Camp Shriver Lafayette will take place Monday, June 18th, through Friday, June 22nd,  from 9am-2pm. Downtown Hammond, LA will be hosting its annual Smokin’ BBQ Challenge March 24th-March 25th, 2017. Special Olympics Louisiana is very fortunate to be one of the beneficiaries of this event.
